Comment
Jean-Pierre BOYER (1776/1850) succeeded A. Pétion in 1818. He unified Haiti in 1820, then set about conquering the eastern part of the island from the Spanish. Charles X, King of France, demanded a large sum of money from him, which he skilfully negotiated to compensate the former French colonists. But this weakened the young republic and led the president to resign in 1843.Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 12 Centimes 24-26 coin from Haiti is that it was minted during a time of great economic and political change in the country. The coin was issued between 1827 and 1829, a period when Haiti was transitioning from a slave colony to an independent nation. The coin's silver content and relatively low denomination suggest that it was intended for everyday use by the general population, and its design may have been meant to symbolize the country's newfound independence and freedom.
