Interesting fact
The Æ11 coin from Kardia (Thrace) was minted during the reign of King Lysimachus, who ruled Thrace from 350 BC to 309 BC. Lysimachus was a former general of Alexander the Great and went on to become one of the Diadochi, the successors of Alexander's empire. The coin features an image of a lion's head on one side and a Greek inscription on the other, which reads "Kardia" and "Lysimachos". This coin is a rare example of a standard circulation coin from ancient Thrace and is highly sought after by collectors.
