This beautiful coin has been designed to reveal the uniqueness of the nature of the African continent, and of the zebra itself. The black-and-white camouflage of the zebra is offset by colourful hooves, each depicted in a golden prism effect. The gentle creature grazes on the Savannah, while the stylised imagery of a sunset horizon with elephants completes the background design.
The zebra is a species of the African horse family, and is distinctive with its striped coat. Unfortunately, their striking appearance is one contributing factor in the decline of zebra populations, with hunting and habitat destruction having a significant impact on the species. This coin is part of a collection that reminds us of the importance of protecting African wildlife for future generations, and that each and every creature is unique and must be protected. Without such an understanding of the natural world, these animals will not be in existence to learn from and admire.
