Interesting fact
The 1983 Hong Kong (China) 1000 Dollars Elizabeth II (Pig) gold coin features an error in the coin's design. The coin's obverse side bears the image of Queen Elizabeth II, while the reverse side features a pig, which is the Chinese zodiac animal for the year 1983. However, the coin's designers accidentally engraved the wrong Chinese character for "pig" on the coin. Instead of the character "豬" (zhū), which means "pig," they engraved the character "猪" (zhū) which means "boar" or "wild pig." This error has made the coin highly sought after by collectors, and it is now considered a rare and unique piece in the numismatic world.
