Comment
The reverse is often misidentified as a depiction of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart playing the violin and piano. However, it actually features a recreation of a famous watercolor drawing of the Mozart family in Paris during their tour of Europe from 1763 to 1766. In the scene, a young Mozart is seated playing harpsichord whilst his father, Jean-Georg-Léopold, stands behind him playing a violin. Meanwhile, his sister, Maria-Anna, is standing to his left and singing (her image is omitted from the coin). The original drawing was created in 1763 by French artist Louis Carrogis Carmontelle and is now housed inside the Drawing Room of the Musée Condé at the Château de Chantilly.
