Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky (1840-1993) - a genius of Russian classical music, from 1866 to 1878 was a professor of the Moscow Conservatory. His operas ("Eugene Onegin", "Mazepa", "Cherevichki", "The Queen of Spades" and "Iolante"), ballets ("The Swan Lake", "The Sleeping Beauty" and "The Nutcracker"), symphonies, instrumental pieces and romances are considered the matchless masterpieces of world music.
