Date of issue: 24 NOV 1992Mikhail Vasilyevich Lomonosov (1711-1765), the first Russian scientist - naturalist of the world range, one of the founders of physical chemistry, an astronomer, geologist and poet, a linguist who laid the foundations of the contemporary Russian language, an artist and historian, an advocate of Russian education and development of Russian sciences and economics. In 1745 he became the first Russian member of the Saint Petersburg Academy of Sciences, since 1763 - a member of the Academy of Arts. On Lomonosov’s initiative, the Moscow University has been founded in 1755. Discoveries of Lomonosov enriched many branches of scientific knowledge.
