Date of issue: 23 OCT 1997The barque was built in Germany as a training sailing ship in 1926 and was first named «Padua». In 1946 the ship came into operation in the Soviet Fleet under the name «Krusenstern». In 1952 it was renamed «Floating Base № 14». In 1957-1964 it was twice modernized and in 1961 it received its former name «Krusenstern». In 1961-1963 «Krusenstern» participated in three long-distance sailings: to the Northern Atlantic and to the Bermudas, to Halifax, Canada, and to the Northern Tropic in the Atlantic. In 1996 «Krusenstern» accomplished a 10-month circumnavigation dedicated to the 300th Anniversary of the Russian Fleet.
