  • Unlike how the denomination Qrish is commonly written in Egyptian coins قـر ش . The قــ was replaced with غـ similar to how Ottoman coins wrote it.

  • The Gregorian date on the right and the Hijri date on the left which is the opposite of the tradition of all Egyptian coins.

  • Although the coins are inscribed with the year 1922, both varieties were minted from 1923 to 1926 for this denomination.
  • The signature of the designer Hamed Effendi Serri was inscribed on the left of the King's bust

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 100 Qirsh - Fuad (Civic Attire) 1340 (1922) coin from Egypt is that it features a portrait of Sultan Fuad II, who was the last ruler of the Khedivate of Egypt, a autonomous tributary state of the Ottoman Empire. The coin was minted in 1922, during a time of great political change in Egypt, as the country was transitioning from a monarchy to a republic. Despite the political upheaval, the coin remains a valuable and sought-after collector's item among numismatists today.
