Britannia is flanked by an ornate oriental border inspired by the Chinese-themed rooms at Buckingham Palace and the Royal Pavilion in Brighton. The design has similarities to the British Trade Dollar first struck for use in the Far East during the reign of Queen Victoria. The coin was also struck in silver.This proof version features plain fields on both sides with an issue limit of 500. Bullion versions also exist (see below).
