One of the first coins to be issued under the reign of King Charles III, released on Monday October 3rd 2022 at 9am to commemorate the life and legacy of Queen Elizabeth II.The coin was issued individually and had an unlimited mintage until 31st December 2022 and was struck in a variety of metals and denominations.
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the coin is that it features a unique reverse design, which was created by sculptor and designer, David Rank-Broadley. The design depicts a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, surrounded by a wreath of oak leaves, with the inscription "ELIZABETH II • DEI • GRA • REGINA • F.D." (Elizabeth II, by the grace of God, Queen, Defender of the Faith) around the edge. The coin's obverse features a portrait of Charles III, also designed by Rank-Broadley.
