Comment
NOTE: This coin is a Piedfort for KM# 316, means to be a coin minted on a doubled thickness planchet, but using the dies of the regular issue. Therefore, the weight shown in the reverse does not match with the actual weight. On 1830, 1st. operating line of public transportation by railways was open at England, covering the route Liverpool to Manchester. While some attempts were made before, this is considered the first successful operating line.
Interesting fact
The 1989 Cuban 100 Pesos (First Railroad in England; Piedfort) gold coin features an error in its design. The coin's reverse side depicts a steam locomotive, but the locomotive's wheel arrangement is incorrect. Instead of having the correct 4-6-0 configuration, the locomotive is shown with a 4-4-0 configuration. This error was not corrected, and the coin was still issued with the mistake. This error has become a unique feature of the coin, making it stand out among collectors.
