Comment

José Celestino Bruno Mutis y Bosio (6 April 1732 – 11 September 1808) was a Spanish priest, botanist and mathematician. He was a significant figure in the Spanish American Enlightenment, whom Alexander von Humboldt met with on his expedition to Spanish America. He is one of the most important authors of the Spanish Universalist School of the 18th century, together with Juan Andrés or Antonio Eximeno.

Interesting fact

The 100 Pesetas - Juan Carlos I (Celestino Mutis) 1991 coin from Spain features an error in its design. The coin was minted with the wrong obverse die, resulting in a misprint of the king's name. Instead of "Juan Carlos I," the coin reads "Juan Carlos III." This error has made the coin highly sought after by collectors, and it is now considered a rare and valuable collector's item.
