The final release in the three-coin Spirit series celebrating the world’s oldest vintages, the Cognac Coin is struck from 2oz 99.99% pure gold and hides a drop of 1762 Cognac Gautier. This is the oldest cognac ever to be sold at a public auction to date as confirmed by its official entry in the Guinness World Records.

The capsule containing a drop of Cognac Gautier is placed in the position to mark the cognac region where the 1762 Gautier Cognac was distilled almost 260 years ago. Maison Gautier, established by the Gautier family, has been producing cognac since 1755 under a Royal Warrant and founding charter signed by King Louis XV.

Distilled and stored over the waters of the Osme River in Aigre, France, the cognac in this coin contains grapes born during the twilight years of the Seven Years’ War, when France was leading the charge against maritime and colonial enemies Britain and Prussia. Now maintained within an extraordinary golden time capsule, this rare nip of cognac can be treasured for generations to come.
