Due to their use on the green carpets of the Casino de Monte Carlo, these pieces are very rare in superb condition, let alone FDC.With his use of laurel and olive branches, Albert 1er is repeating a similar motif used by his ancestors Honoré II and Louis 1er in the 17th century.
Interesting fact
This gold coin was minted during the reign of Prince Albert I of Monaco, who ruled the principality from 1889 to 1922. He was known for his progressive policies and support for scientific research, earning him the nickname "The Oceanographer Prince."
