Interesting fact
The 100 Forint (Ignác Semmelweis) 1968 coin from Hungary features an image of Ignác Semmelweis, a Hungarian physician who is considered the savior of mothers, on its obverse side. Semmelweis discovered that puerperal fever, a disease that was causing many deaths in hospitals, was being spread by doctors who had performed autopsies on patients who had died from the disease and then examined other patients without washing their hands. His discovery led to the implementation of hand washing with soap and water in hospitals, which significantly reduced the number of deaths from puerperal fever.
