The American Eagle Platinum Coin was released in 1997. The 1 oz Platinum Coins were available from the US Mint from 1997 to 2008, but the program was stopped from 2009 - 2013 as demand for platinum went down. The coin was re-released in 2014, but only for one year. Since 2016, it has been reestablished as an annual-issue coin.Interesting fact
