Comment
In 755, a revolt resulted in the City of Luozhou (the capital), being taken. The Great Yan State was formed, lasting from 756 to 763, when it was finally extinguished. The title Deyi also means "to last one year", which was thought to be a bad omen, so in 759, the title was changed to Shuntian (the first era name of Shi Siming).
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was issued during a time of great political instability in China, known as the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period. The Great Yan State was one of the many kingdoms that emerged during this time, and the Deyi (Yuanbao) coin was used as a form of currency to help finance the state's military and administrative expenses. Despite the turmoil of the time, the coin's design and production quality remained consistent, reflecting the importance of maintaining economic stability and continuity in the face of political upheaval.
