Comment

The Dominion of Ghana was created in 1957, when the Gold Coast & British Togoland became independent.

The Dominion of Ghana ceased to exist on 1 July 1960, when the Republic of Ghana was created - with Kwame Nkrumah as the first President of the Republic of Ghana (1960 - 66) until his dictatorship was overthrown in the 14 February 1966 Coup.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 10 Shillings (Independence) 1958 coin from Ghana is that it was minted to commemorate the country's independence from British colonial rule, which was achieved on March 6, 1957. The coin's design features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on one side and a depiction of a black star, which is a symbol of African unity and independence, on the other side. The coin's silver content and unique design make it a valuable collector's item for numismatists and historians interested in African history and culture.
