Comment

The Royal Mint U.K. won the contract for the 1967 coins but the project was sub-contracted in total to M.B.L. (The Mint, Birmingham, Limited, the official name for Heaton's Mint) for the 10 sengi coins and to I.MI. (Imperial Metal Industries Limited, where King's Norton is part of) for the 1 Likuta and 5 Makuta coins.

Of the total mintage, 6,000,000 were minted in 1966, 84,996,000 were minted in 1967.

Interesting fact

The 10 Sengi coin from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (then known as the Republic of the Congo) features a unique design, with a stylized image of a leopard's head on the obverse (front side) and the coat of arms of the country on the reverse (back side).
