Struck between 1945-1963 in Philadelphia, 1964-1966 in Birmingham, and 1974-1975 in London.Despite being listed in the Standard Catalog of World Coins as Copper, official US Mint and Royal Mint records state that these coins were minted in Copper and Zinc (Brass).
Of the Philadelphia issue, 25,000,000 were minted in 1945, 16,000,000 were minted in 1949, 5,000,000 were minted in 1952, 25,000,000 were minted in 1953, 6,928,000 were minted in 1957, 33,072,000 were minted in 1958, 20,000,000 were minted in 1962, and 30,000,000 were minted in 1963.
Of the Birmingham issue, 4,800,000 were minted in 1964, 35,200,000 were minted in 1965, and 100,000,000 were minted in 1966.
Of the British Royal Mint issue, 50,000,000 were minted in 1974.
