The coin features an image of Yuri Gagarin, the first human to journey into outer space, on its obverse (front side). Gagarin's historic spaceflight took place on April 12, 1961, and lasted for 108 minutes. The coin's reverse (back side) shows a stylized image of the Earth and the words "First Manned Spaceflight" in Russian.
