Comment

2 types exist:
Type 1 (current coin picture): without "PROOF"; mintage of 4,500
Type 2 (picture below): with "PROOF"; mintage of 1,400

NOTE: Krause lists the 1st type as a normal year line - which is incorrect - and the 2nd type as a proof year line. However, both coins are in proof quality. The only difference is "PROOF" written on the 2nd type obverse, and the coin comes in a presentation box.

Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower (October 14, 1890 – March 28, 1969) was an American politician and general who served as the 34th President of the United States from 1953 until 1961. He was a five-star general in the United States Army during World War II and served as Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces in Europe. He was responsible for planning and supervising the invasion of North Africa in Operation Torch in 1942–43 and the successful invasion of France and Germany in 1944–45 from the Western Front. In 1951, he became the first Supreme Commander of NATO.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features an image of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States, on one side, and the Ras al-Khaimah emblem, which includes a falcon and the name of the emirate in Arabic, on the other side. This coin was issued in 1970 as a non-circulating commemorative coin to honor the visit of President Eisenhower to Ras al-Khaimah in 1959.
