Interesting fact

The 10 Réis coin was the first coin to feature a portrait of King Luís I of Portugal, who reigned from 1861 to 1889. The coin was designed by the artist José Simões de Alarcón, and it features a youthful portrait of the king on the obverse side, surrounded by the inscription "LUIZ I REI DE PORTUGAL". The reverse side of the coin features the coat of arms of Portugal, surrounded by the inscription "10 REIS". The coin was minted from 1882 to 1886 and was widely used in circulation during that time. Today, it is a sought-after collector's item among numismatists and can be found in various online marketplaces and auction houses.
