During the German occupation of Norway the composition was changed from copper-nickel to zinc (for the war efforts), the obverse was also changed to no longer include the Norwegian crown (symbol of the king) and the royal motto ("All for Norway"), as the king went into exile after denying the German ultimatum.

Interesting fact
