Comment

These emergency coins are a special feature of a private emergency money with official approval. These emergency coins were issued by the Hessen-Nassauischen Hüttenverein. The Hütte in Strassebersbach obtained permission from the municipal council to issue emergency coins with the inscription "Gemeinde Strassebersbach" on their own account. The municipal council agreed to make the name Straßebersbach and the Hütte better known.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 10 Pfennigs - Strassebersbach ND (1917) coin is that it was issued during a time of economic turmoil in Germany, specifically during the hyperinflation period of the early 1920s. The coin's low denomination and zinc composition were a result of the government's efforts to produce a large quantity of coins quickly and cheaply to meet the high demand for small change during this time. Despite its low value, the coin remains a popular collector's item today due to its historical significance and rarity.
