The "Mars-Werke A.G." were once a manufacturer of two-wheelers. The company was not as successful as other manufacturers (Hercules, Zündapp, Triumph ...), but Mars motorcycles still have many fans around the world. Today the "A20", better known as the "White Mars", is legendary.
Paul Reissmann founded the Mars company in Nürnberg-Doos in 1873, a company specializing in the production of cast iron stoves. Hand, belt and motorized sirens were manufactured to compensate seasonal fluctuations.
In 1898 the company started to manufacture bicycles.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features the image of a young woman holding a bunch of grapes, symbolizing the rich agricultural heritage of the region.
