Comment

One of twenty-six 10 pence coins in the Quintessentially British A to Z collection featuring a different letter to represent and celebrate different British landmarks and traditions. The game of Cricket originated in the South-East of England in the late 16th century.

From the Royal Mint website for 2019: "There is an unlimited mintage set against the collectable Uncirculated Great British Coin Hunt A-Z 2019 10p coins made. However, 2.1 million circulating versions of the coins will be released into circulation from February 2019."

As well as being issued for circulation the 2018 coin was available to purchase individually and in a complete folder with all 26 designs, the design was also struck in silver proof.

The design was also struck in gold proof to commemorate England winning the Cricket World Cup.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design on the reverse side, which depicts a cricket player in action, with the famous cricket bat and ball in hand. This design was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of cricket player Sir Donald Bradman, who is widely considered one of the greatest cricketers of all time. The coin's design is a nod to the rich history and cultural significance of cricket in the United Kingdom and its overseas territories.
