The PM mint mark appears on the obverse below the Queen's bust for the coins from 1972. PM stands for the Pobjoy Mint.
The Three Legs device, in its characterist armoured and spurred Manx form, is known from heraldic rolls dating from the late 13th century. It formed the heraldic arms of the medieval King of Man, and later became adopted as the official arms of the Island.
