The western capercaillie is also known as the wood grouse, heather cock, or just capercaillie bird.

The digit "9" in the date have more of a bend in the bottom stroke for 1996-1999 coins compared to the 1993-1995 coins.

Interesting fact

The 10 Markkaa coin from Finland, minted between 1993 and 2001, features a unique bimetallic design with a brass center surrounded by a copper-nickel ring. This coin was designed by the Finnish artist, Raimo Heino, and it's one of the most distinctive features of this coin. The bimetallic design not only adds to the coin's aesthetic appeal but also makes it easily recognizable and harder to counterfeit.
