Interesting fact
The Monk Seal coin was designed by Bulgarian artist Vera Tsekova and features an image of a monk seal, a rare and endangered species found in the Mediterranean Sea, on one side, and the Bulgarian coat of arms on the other. The coin was minted in 1999 as part of a series of non-circulating coins celebrating Bulgarian wildlife, and it has a limited mintage of 5,000 pieces.
