The coin is dedicated to 400th anniversary of Petro Mohyla (1596-1647), an outstanding Ukrainian ecclesiastical, cultural, educational and political figure of the first half of the 17th century, the Metropolitan of Kyiv and Halych, one of the founders of the first higher school in Ukraine and Eastern Europe - the Kyiv-Mohyla Collegium (later-Academy).
