Coin celebrates the Mhar Savior-Transfiguration Monastery. Founded in 1619, it sits on a picturesque hill on the right bank of the Sula River near the village of Mhar and the town of Lubny. The monastery has always played an important role in the spiritual life of Ukraine. The Savior-Transfiguration Cathedral is the jewel of the monastery. One of the most prominent architectural monuments built in the Ukrainian Baroque style, it was constructed in the late 17th century using funds given by the hetmans Ivan Samoilovych and Ivan Mazepa. The cathedral boasts magnificent plaster moldings, which mainly consist of floral ornaments.Interesting fact
