Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it features a unique design that reflects the culture and history of New Caledonia, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean. The coin's obverse side features the profile of a Kanak woman, a member of the indigenous people of New Caledonia, wearing a traditional headdress and necklace. The reverse side features a sailing ship, the "L'Etoile du Matin," which was used by French explorer and navigator, James Cook, during his voyages in the Pacific. The coin's design was created by the French artist, Pierre Grivolas, and it was minted by the Paris Mint.
