Comment

Apafi Michael was imposed prince of Transylvania by the Ottoman Porta. He was a week ruler, and his wife Bornemissza Anna was the one to take care of most of the country's business, together with chancellor Teleki Mihaly. The hundreds of thousands of gold ducats he had to pay to the Holy Roman Empire and to the Ottoman Porta caused the economy to decline. He died in 1690, at Fagaras (Fogaras).

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 10 Florins - Michael I Apafi (Klippe) coin is that it was issued during a time of great turmoil in the Principality of Transylvania. The coin was minted in 1662-1663, during the reign of Michael I Apafi, who was the Prince of Transylvania from 1661 to 1690. At that time, the Principality was facing challenges from the neighboring Ottoman Empire, which had conquered much of Eastern Europe and was threatening Transylvania's independence. Despite these challenges, the coin still maintains its value and rarity, making it a highly sought-after collector's item among numismatists.
