The upper oval contains an image of the main façade of the Plaza Mayor of Salamanca; the right oval, an image of the portrait of Lope de Vega, property of the Valencia Institute of Don Juan and deposited in the Lope de Vega House Museum, in Madrid; the left oval, the portrait of the Infanta Margarita colourized, central theme of the work "Las meninas" by Velázquez, which is preserved in the Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid.

The Royal Mint launches the third series of collector coins of the European coinage program "Épocas de Europa" ("Ages of Europe"), composed of one gold and one silver coin. On this occasion, the collection is dedicated to the Baroque and Rococo.
In this European coinage program, apart from Spain, Belgium, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malta and Portugal participate. In order to cohere the program and make it an authentic collection, one of the faces of the coins has a common design, in the Spanish case it is the face of the obverse.
