Comment
Part of a series of 15 coins designed by Christian Lacroix that trace the line of French rulers from King Clovis who united the Frankish tribes to François Mitterand, the longest-serving prime minister of the Republic. The coins were released in both silver and gold at three coins per year over 5 years, culminating in 2015. Although sold individually, Monnaie de Paris also issued a special casket for collectors to unite the complete sets in either silver or gold.Interesting fact
The 10 Euro Louis IX coin from France, minted in 2012, is a non-circulating coin made of silver (.900) and weighs 22.2 grams. One interesting fact about this coin is that it features an image of King Louis IX, also known as Saint Louis, on the obverse side, while the reverse side showcases a representation of the Sainte-Chapelle, a Gothic chapel located in Paris that was built during Louis IX's reign. The coin's design was created by the French artist, Joaquin Jimenez, and it was issued to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the birth of Louis IX.
