Comment

The Roman Empire achieved its largest territorial extent when Hadrian was proclamed emperor in 117 AD. Under his wise guidance a long period of peace was granted. Some of the most important palaces in Rome and the wonderful Villa Adriana in Tivoli were built thanks to this great Emperor, an intellectual, an aesthete and a lover of figurative arts, literature, poetry and architecture.

Interesting fact

The 10 Euro Hadrian coin from Italy, made of gold (.900) and weighing 3g, features an image of the Roman Emperor Hadrian on one side and the iconic Colosseum on the other. This coin is a non-circulating coin, meaning it is not intended for general circulation and is instead produced in limited quantities for collectors. It was minted in 2017 to commemorate the 1,800th anniversary of Hadrian's reign.
