Reverse
The Vercingetorix coin shows a stater. The staters were antique coins, which circulated from Greece to Gaul. There were the first coins to be subject to counterfeiting. The Vercingetorix face which is visible in some of the coins is probably inspired by Apollon.

Monnaie de Paris strikes coins for France since year 864. The treasures, that belongs to its heritage, are the series’ essence. It recounts France’s History on some twenty coins, going from the Roman period until today.The series will be launched in two stages : the first wave in March 2019 and the second one in September 2019. It is composed of 18 10€ Silver coins depicting former french currencies.
Two uncolorized 50€ Silver coins, two colorized 50€ Silver coins and the 200€ Gold coin complete the series and present strong French symbols.
Interesting fact
The Vercingetorix coin was minted to commemorate the 2,000th anniversary of the Battle of Alesia, where Vercingetorix, a Gallic chieftain, led a rebellion against the Roman Empire. The coin's design features a portrait of Vercingetorix on one side and the Battle of Alesia on the other. The coin's unique shape, which resembles a Celtic coin, adds to its historical significance and collectibility.
