Monnaie de Paris strikes coins for France since year 864. The treasures, that belongs to its heritage, are the series’ essence. It recounts France’s History on some twenty coins, going from the Roman period until today.The series will be launched in two stages: the first wave in March 2019 and the second one in September 2019. It is composed of 18 10€ Silver coins depicting former french currencies.
Two uncoloured 50€ Silver coins, two colorized 50€ Silver coins and the 200€ Gold coin complete the series and present strong French symbols.
Interesting fact
The Louis XVI coin is part of a series of coins issued by the French mint to commemorate significant historical figures and events. The coin features an image of Louis XVI, the last king of France before the French Revolution, on one side, and the symbol of the French Republic, the Marianne, on the other. The coin's design is meant to represent the transition from monarchy to republic, and the silver content of the coin is a nod to the historical use of silver in French coinage.
