The 2014 French Candide or Optimism 10 Euro silver coin features a unique design that takes inspiration from Voltaire's famous novel, Candide, ou l'Optimisme. The coin's obverse side depicts a portrait of Voltaire, while the reverse side shows a scene from the novel where Candide and his companions are sailing to the New World. The coin's design is the work of French artist and engraver, Joaquin Jimenez.
