State of Mozambique (1972-1975)
Portuguese Mozambique was a former Portuguese colony in what is now Mozambique. The country was colonized from 1498 to 1975. Until 1951, the country was known as Portuguese East Africa, which included several colonies. It was then unified as the Ultramarine Province of Mozambique, before finally being renamed the State of Mozambique in 1972.
Slavery continued until the 20th century, despite protests from certain countries. Compulsory labor was also commonplace. Concessions gave plantation owners the right to use this method of production.

Interesting fact
One interesting fact about the 10 Escudos coin from Mozambique is that it was minted during the country's colonial era, when it was a Portuguese colony. The coin features the image of the Portuguese monarch, King Manuel II, on one side, and the Mozambican coat of arms on the other. This coin was used as currency in Mozambique until 1960, when the country gained independence from Portugal and replaced the Escudo with the Metical as its official currency.
