The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) issued the first $10 lunar coin series between 1981 and 1992. In conjunction with the release of the nickel $10 Lunar Rat coin in 1984, the mint issued a silver proof coin in $10 denomination and a gold proof coin in $500 denomination.According to the MAS website, the nickel and gold coins were issued on the 9th January 1984 while the silver coin was released on the 23rd April 1984. All were not meant for circulation. The mintage numbers are 300,000 nickel coins, 20,000 silver proof coins and 4,000 gold proof coins. The issue price were S$12.00, S$50.00 and S$1,250.00 respectively.
This Lunar $10 Year of the Rat is struck in 50.0% fine silver and 50.0% alloy. The coin is encapsulated and presented in a clam-shell box with an accompanying Certificate of Authenticity.
