The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) issued the first $10 lunar coin series between 1981 and 1992. In conjunction with the release of the nickel $10 Lunar Pig coin in 1983, the mint issued a silver proof coin in $10 denomination and a gold proof coin in $500 denomination.According to the MAS website, the nickel and gold coins were issued on the 26th January 1983 while the silver coin was released on the 13th July 1983. All were not meant for circulation. The mintage numbers are 307,000 nickel coins, 20,000 silver proof coins and 55,000 gold proof coins. The issue price were S$12.00, S$50.00 and S$1,250.00 respectively.
This Lunar $10 Year of the Pig is struck in 50.0% fine silver and 50.0% alloy. The coin is encapsulated and presented in a clam-shell box with an accompanying Certificate of Authenticity.
