Comment

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (2 October 1869 – 30 January 1948) was an Indian lawyer, anti-colonial nationalist and political ethicist who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence from British rule, and to later inspire movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. The honorific Mahātmā (Sanskrit: "great-souled", "venerable"), first applied to him in 1914 in South Africa, is now used throughout the world.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 10 Diners (Mahatma Gandhi) 2011 coin from Andorra is that it features a unique design that showcases Mahatma Gandhi's message of peace and non-violence. The coin's obverse side features a portrait of Gandhi, while the reverse side depicts a dove, which is a symbol of peace, and the words "Non-violence" and "Coexist" in Catalan, the official language of Andorra. This design was chosen to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Gandhi's visit to Andorra in 1911.
