Issue date: February 12, 1905

Balboa was a Spaniard, the first European to cross the Isthmus, to reach the Pacific by land and discover the Perlas Archipelago (1513). The seven stars represent the country's seven provinces at that time (there are now ten).

Of the circulation issue, 1,000,000 were minted in 1904 and 125,000 in 1905.

Interesting fact

One interesting fact about the 10 Centésimos 1904 coin from Panama is that it was minted during a time when Panama was still a department of Colombia, and it features the image of Colombian leader Simón Bolívar on one side, and the Panamanian coat of arms on the other. This coin was also minted in limited quantities, making it a rare and valuable collector's item for numismatists.
