Comment
During the conflict of the Spanish Civil War, the Royal Mint of Madrid was transferred, due to the siege of the Nationalists on Madrid, from the capital of Spain to Castellón (Valencian Community) and, later, to Aspe, in the province of Alicante ( Valencian Community).
This coin seems to have been issued when the Mint was in Castellón.
Interesting fact
The 10 Centimos coin from the II Republic of Spain, minted in 1938, was made of iron and weighed only 4 grams. This was a significant departure from the standard coinage of the time, which was typically made of copper, silver, or gold. The use of iron was a deliberate choice made by the Spanish government to reduce the cost of producing coins, as iron was a cheaper and more abundant metal than the traditional coinage metals. This decision was also seen as a way to promote the use of iron in everyday life, as it was a strong and durable metal that could be used for a variety of purposes. Despite its unusual composition, the 10 Centimos coin remained a popular and widely-used denomination in Spain during its time in circulation.
