Comment
The Besançon "essays", according to R. Habrekorn, were made after the fact. Some of these coins were offered to local personalities, while others were sold to enthusiasts. The rest were acquired two years later by a Parisian numismatic dealer (Louis Ciani?)(Elie 2003, p. 47).
Interesting fact
One interesting fact about this coin is that it was minted in 1917, during World War I, and its production was likely affected by the war effort.
