Interesting fact
The 10 Centavos coin from Peru, minted in 1975, was made of brass, a copper and zinc alloy. This coin was unique in that it was the first time that a coin with a denomination of 10 centavos was minted in Peru. Additionally, it was the first coin to feature the image of the national hero, Jose de San Martin, on its obverse side. San Martin was a prominent figure in Peruvian history, known for his leadership in the country's fight for independence from Spain. The coin's reverse side features the Peruvian coat of arms.
