1. Comparing KM#76.1a, KM#76.2a, KM#76.3 and KM#76.4, the main difference between KM#76.1a and the other sub types is its very large lettering. (left image)
2. The date on the 1976 coin the has a '1' with a small pointy serif and a '9' with a straight end. The date on the 1989 coin has a '1' with a large blunt serif and a '9' with a curved end. (right image) (difference noticed by E.Timmermans)
